So have to leave this video at the top! You are probably thinking, what the heck will this be about? Well, this is a post about our trip to London. Okay Jen, that has nothing to do with pussycats or Tom Jones. Well he was born in Wales, but that is a completely differnt country, all together. That is a completely differnt country. (You were supossed to repeat by the way. Not sure if you got that.)
The song is actually in honor of me mum! Okay, you gotta explain this one. So before we left, I was speaking with my ma about our trip. She started quoting this nursery rhyme. Yes my issues are hereditary.
Now you need to repeat this in a high sing songy voice please. Cause that is how we roll.
Pussycat, pussycat where have you been?
I've been to England to visit the Queen.
Pussycat, pussycat what'd you do there?
I scared the little mouse under the chair.
Okay, even typing I said it high and sing songy. Did I visit the Queen? Yes, but she was not home. The State Rooms were open this summer, though. Really cool actually. Well not really, the palace was kindof stuffy. I understand why she heads to Scotland. Tad bit warm in the rooms!
Yes, creepy faces on my children. The scare the mouse face, and the boo no Queen face. Or really boo no Kate face. Yep, only the boys and I went. Poor hubby had to work. So I took the boys on a Jennifer trip around London. We had a great time actually. 3 days of walking and sore feet, but we saw cool stuff. We even got up to the "English countryside" to visit friends. Forgot to take pictures because I was too focused in soaking up time with them. We had a great evening at a British pub to go with the great company. Also ate the best burger outside of Brazil.
We went to the London Eye, ate on the steps of the National Gallery, had burgers 3 of the 4 nights (because burgers are just that good), saw the Tower, went across just about every bridge that traverses the Thames, and found out all kinds of extra useless knowledge.
Like, the nursery rhyme "Mary, Mary Quite Contrary" is about Mary, the Bloody Queen, who executed bunches of people. Getting "thrown into the clink" is a saying about getting thrown in prison. The Clink is actually a prison in London, which we visited part. Gruesome place really. And "pulling my leg" is from those poor prisoners, if they survived the Clink, who were hanged and their family members would pull down on their legs to help them die faster. Nice right?
On that note, Parliament was also open for the Summer. Totally cool as well. We could only take pictures of the front two rooms. Really interesting to see the similarities and contrasts to our American system. Not everybody has a chair to sit in. They could probably borrow some of ours since our legislators are hardly ever there. I know this because I went while in session and there were only 5 people on the Senate floor. Umm, we have more than that right? We got to see the room where William Wallace was tried, found guilty, and sent to be drawn and quartered and disemboweled. Here is the room. Oldest part of Parliament. And yes, Javier did say "Freedom!" in honor. But not very loudly.
The ceiling is made of wood. Don't think you can see the intricacies of the workmanship in the photo. Really nifty, if I do say so.
We had great weather for most of the time, except the day we went to the Tower. We got washed out there, but we saw the Ravens (not the football team), the Crown Jewels, and the torture devices. No I am not bloodthirsty. My boys are safe. No need to call CPS.
See perfectly fine. Though truly sick of mom taking group selfies. Can you take a group selfie? Sounds like an oxymoron. Or is it called a groupie?
And one last picture before I close. To quote the infamous Chevy Chase, becasue he is so famous, he is in-famous...
